COVID-19 and the Effect on the ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL SUPPLY CHAIN

The increasing demand for sanitizers during the COVID-19 crisis has put significant pressure on the global supply chain for isopropanol (IPA). As such, the cost of the material has rapidly risen by approximately 40% and the lead time has increased.

So far, Comtree and it’s customers have been unaffected by lead time as we are still able to retain stock in our warehouse. Unfortunately, the price has increased substantially.

Perhaps it is time to have a closer look into IPA alternatives for the electronic industry. In addition to several safety and environmental concerns, IPA is generally not the best cleaner for electronics. It’s major advantage has been low cost. Now, as companies look for a safer, better, and more readily available solution, alternative solvents and water-based products are starting to replacing IPA.

Kyzen offer several IPA alternative products for benchtop cleaning, stencil cleaning, and understencil wipe applications.
